Teams & Drills

Site Safety Team:  The function of the site safety team is to provide support during and after the occurrence of an incident at the school site.
  • Site Safety Teams participate in regular drills to ensure they are prepared to support their school during an incident.
  • Site Safety Teams collaborate to update safety plans.
 
Site Safety Drill:  Coordinated emergency drills are organized at all TRUSD schools to prepare students and staff in cases of incident and/or emergency. 
  • These drills help students and staff to understand what steps to take in case of emergency.
  • Drills allow the district to identify areas of strength and weakness.
  • Drills also test the systems in place to support safety such as CATAPULT, the Site Safety Team, the District ReACT team, etc.
 
ReACT Team:  A District-level management team that oversees, coordinates and supports any and all significant incidents identified within the district.
  • Team members participate in drills to ensure they are prepared to respond and support in cases of a significant incident as needed.
  • Team members support safety with man-made incidents, accidents, natural disaster, and industrial accidents.
  • During an incident, the ReACT team participates in two-way communication with the employees at the location of the incident. Team members receive information, assess the situation, identify the best response and communicate the strategy back to the location of incident.
 

Plans

Emergency Operation Procedure Manual:  Detailed instructions outlining how the district will respond to and recover from emergencies and hazards. 
  • Provides emergency response forms, templates and samples letters to be used in cases of emergency or hazard.
  • Outlines the necessary steps to follow when activating a response to an incident.
  • Ensures proper threat assessment and immediate action.
  • Includes numerous scenarios with lists of prevention, preparedness, and response steps.
 
Site Safety Plans:  A detailed outline of the strategies aimed at the prevention of and education about potential incidents involving crime, violence, hazards, and natural disasters at a school campus. 
  • Plans are updated and Board approved annually.
  • Plans are stored in a location accessible to the school staff, but not accessible to the public.
 
Hazard Communication Plan:  An outline of the potential chemical hazards and additional information concerning appropriate protective measures to be taken by employees. 
  • Enhance employee’s health and safety by communicating the presence of hazardous chemicals at specific locations.
  • Developed and maintained by the District as outlined in Title 8, CCR 5194.

Programs

Heat Illness Prevention Program Standard:  Assists in reducing the risk of heat-related illnesses and to ensure emergency assistance is provided without delay, when needed.
  • Educating employees and the district on the dangers of working in the heat.
  • Outlines guidelines to follow in order to avoid heat-related illness.
 
Injury & Illness Prevention Program:  a proactive process to identify and fix workplace hazards before injuries and illness occur.
  • Increase workplace protection.
  • Proactive process to reduce and prevent injury/illness
 
COVID-19 Prevention Program:  an established and maintained prevention program which centers on preventing the spread of COVID-19 as well as steps to take when an exposure occurs. 
  • Minimizes the spread of COVID-19.
  • Informs employees on the appropriate steps to take in case of exposure or illness.

Technology

Cybersecurity:  TRUSD maintains disaster recovery, incident response, and business continuity plans to ensure the cyber safety of the district.
  • Annual review of the plan ensures the district stays up to date in the latest cybersecurity issues
  • Protects confidential data from infiltration and attack.
  • Keeps employees informed on the necessary steps to take to protect data and information.
