Family and Community Engagement (FACE) will be hosting virtual family workshops and trainings to support its Twin Rivers community on the learning tools and programs to promote online learning for students, resources from the District and Departments, and additional information as requested. 

 FACE DISTANCE LEARNING SCHEDULE
 
Supporting Students in Special Education with Distance Learning
Families will learn about how to access and use Unique curriculum online for students in the Bridge Special Day Class (for Autism) and RISE Special Day Class (for moderate/severe disabilities). In addition, we will provide information on “Behavior Bits”, how to use visual schedules, token boards, and other behavior supports for students accessing Distance Learning.

Swun Math Strategies and Resources for Families During Distance Learning
Learn more about how families can support their student’s mathematical needs in a distance learning environment with our Swun Math Consultants. We will cover grade level math strategies from a variety of sample K-8th math problems, and share the resources the Swun Math website can offer for its students.

Vaping and Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE)
Families will learn about the recent vaping phenomenon that is impacting teens nationwide. We will discuss the negative health effects of vaping and provide information to help identify what vapes are popular and why teens are using them. In addition, we will be sharing Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) services and resources that are available to students in Twin Rivers.

Distance Learning with Behavior Supports: Balancing with PBIS
Families will learn how to set expectations at home, apply them to the new learning experience, redirect misbehaviors, and reward correct behaviors. Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a system that we use in our schools to support learning correct behaviors in a variety of situations and settings. It is important to continue to support behavioral interventions at home through collaboration with schools.

Members of the TR English Learner Services Department will review information to help you support your English learner’s success. Topics will include resources for promoting language acquisition at home, the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC), reclassification, EL courses for middle and high school, and much more!
