Principal's Message

Welcome back to another great school year of learning, Dragons! Be sure to have a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast before starting class

I look forward to all the exciting things we will be working on this year. Our staff will be continuing to create and maintain our caring and supportive learning environment for all students. The Conflict Manager program will once again help students develop leadership skills, conflict resolution skills, and will help to decrease the problems on the playground. All students will be encouraged to work with the Conflict Managers in order to make our school a peaceful, enjoyable, and caring place.

This year our teachers and staff will focus on improving all students’ reading and writing abilities. Our students will be writing everyday, focusing on the key standards for their grade level. Our staff will be collaborating with one another to ensure that all students are getting both math and reading instruction at their level. Improving student achievement will be a priority for Rio Linda School this year. Your support will be invaluable.

This year will also bring many family friendly activities sponsored by our school and PTA. We welcome and encourage you to participate as often as you can. Show you are committed to your children’s learning, meet with other parents, and have fun!

Mission Statement

Rio Linda Elementary is a community of learners who take pride in creating high quality work and putting forth their best efforts at all times. Academic success is not fully realized unless there is a team approach to learning. We know we could not achieve these results alone. Parents, students, and all staff members at Rio Linda Elementary contribute to ensuring our students' success. Rio Linda is a small school with a big heart. We focus on three core expectations around our campus, be safe, be respectful, and be responsible.

Curriculum Development

All curriculum development in the Twin Rivers Unified School District is based on the California State Content Standards and Frameworks. Curriculum guides are updated regularly by the Educational Services Department, to align with the state standards, district goals, and the statewide assessment program.

School Leadership

Leadership at Rio Linda Elementary is a responsibility shared between district administration, the principal, instructional staff, students, and parents. The district’s emphasis is on a well-balanced and rigorous core curriculum at all grade levels. Instructional programs are aligned with state and district standards. Leadership duties were assumed by Principal Paula Roach. Staff members and parents participate on various committees that make decisions regarding the priorities and direction of the school plan to ensure instructional programs are consistent with students’ needs and the school plan complies with district goals.

Parent & Community Involvement

Parents make important contributions to our school in many ways. The first is through our School Site Council as elected representatives and our English Learner Advisory Committee. These two opportunities give parents input and guidance into the program and budget aspects of our school. The Rio Linda Elementary PTA also serves as a strong method to become an active part of our school. Throughout the year, the PTA helps organize activities and fundraisers that benefit our students and families.

Finally, parents and community members are always invited to volunteer in classrooms or around the school. There are always many tasks to be done and assistance is needed in many ways, such as fieldtrip chaperones, room parents, parent readers, organizing and helping with special classroom projects, and organizing and assisting with school wide events, just to name a few. However, the largest impact parents make is letting their children know how important an education is and expecting their children's best everyday, both socially and academically.
