Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at Hagginwood School. I am looking forward with great anticipation to working with you and your child. Together we will ensure that your child receives the best educational program and experiences high academic success. Our staff members are highly dedicated individuals who are ready to provide any support to make your child's educational experience a success. If your child needs additional support or you have a concern, please don't hesitate to contact me, or your child's teacher.

We have had a few changes in our daily schedule that may affect your planning and coordination with childcare providers as well as your early morning routine. Our starting time will now be at 8:30 a.m. with a release time of 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, August 12th is the first day of school and classes will start at our late start Wednesday time of 9:55 a.m. Students having breakfast may arrive a half hour before school starts. For safety, students not having breakfast are to arrive 15 minutes before the starting times. We do not have supervision for students arriving earlier. Please call us if you have any questions. The school number is (916) 263-8366. Office hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Mission Statement

The mission of Hagginwood School is to provide a high standard of education, which fosters sense of self worth by:

  • Teaching responsibility and self-discipline
  • Holding everyone to high academic and behavioral standards
  • Giving students opportunities for choices in their education
  • Promoting parental responsibility
Curriculum Development

All curriculum development at Hagginwood Elementary School revolves around the California State Content Standards and Frameworks. Teachers align classroom curriculum to ensure that all students meet or exceed state proficiency levels. Teachers meet on a monthly basis to discuss possible innovations in the curriculum, as well as the specific needs of students.

A Student Study Team assists in providing resources and support for special needs students. Curriculum planning is accomplished through a careful analysis of the state frameworks, instructional materials aligned with the State standards, district policies, assessment results, and research. Hagginwood Elementary School utilizes the Avenues curriculum to support English Language Development for English Language Learners.

Parent & Community Involvement

Parents and the community are very supportive of the educational programs in the Twin Rivers Unified School District. The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) plays an active role in the community and at each school site through fundraising and special activities. Contributions by Costco and The Double Tree Hotel, add to the programs available at Hagginwood Elementary School.
