Twin Rivers has Area's First Electric School Buses
The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District and its partners, including Twin Rivers Unified, will host a press event at 10 a.m. Friday, May 12, for the unveiling of Sacramento's first electric school buses.The press conference will take place at Martin Luther King Jr.Technology Academy.
Twin Rivers has already received eight electric buses and will get eight more in July. Routes will run primarily through disadvantaged communities.
A total of 29 electric buses will be deployed in three Sacramento County school districts.The project, funded in part by a $7.5 million grant through California Climate Investments, uses proceeds from the state's cap-and-trade program.
