Eight TR Schools Named Gold Ribbon Schools
It's a great day in Twin Rivers! We're proud to share the news that eight of our schools are the recipients of the prestigious Gold Ribbon Schools Award from the California Department of Education.
Only 16 elementary schools in Sacramento County received this honor.
"This is great," says Superintendent Dr. Steve Martinez. "The schools are doing amazing work and to be identified by the California Department of Education for having best practices in terms of teaching and learning is significant. For Twin Rivers to have eight out of 16 elementary schools in Sacramento County to receive this honor validates that the work we do for kids each day is exactly what they need to be successful."

"These schools shine as bright beacons for others, putting forth an exemplary effort to ensure that every student is ready for 21st century college and careers," says State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson in a news release.
Schools applied for the award based on a model program or practice their school has adopted, including standards-based activities, projects, strategies and practices that impact teaching and learning and can be replicated by other school districts.
The California Gold Ribbon Award temporarily replaces the California Distinguished Schools Program while California creates new assessment and accountability systems.
