Just DREAM Project at Martin Luther King Jr, Technology Academy

Dr. King once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"
To honor living the dream, and in partnership with Milton 510 Bowens and Martin Luther King Jr, Technology Academy, we have created the Just DREAM Gallery. Milton Bowens envisioned this one of a kind space as a place that would bring the community Fine Art that looks and sounds like the community in which it lives. "We don't just talk about it, we do something about it."

The Just DREAM Project provides a multi-faceted experience. Galleries of professional artwork combined with interactive spaces provide one of a kind experiences set at a school site. It asks students to respond to the artwork by creating their own art. The artwork contained in the project requires students to reflect on who they are; it challenges us all to do something. Most importantly, it represents our students' culture and community. Students and community members will visit the galleries and create art on the walls in the interactive gallery space. The primary goal of the MLK Just DREAM project is to provide students a culturally relevant and engaging alternative to traditional arts experiences.

The galleries currently feature two separate shows: Just DREAM and App-titude. Just DREAM speaks about those who paved the way in Civil Rights. App-titude asks the viewer to take a deeper look at the use of social media. Both galleries are designed to educate, inspire thought and conversation.
