Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

Program_Overview Card IconProgram Overview

Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a decision-making framework that guides selection, integration and implementation of the best evidence-based behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students. It is a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) developed to promote positive, safe, and supportive school climates for all students by clearly identifying positive behavioral expectations and explicitly teaching the desired behaviors to students. PBIS is not a curriculum, intervention or practice. It is a three-tiered model that focuses heavily on school-wide core features.
