The Firefighter Youth Academy is a youth development and mentoring program that is designed to provide guidance and career exposure to the fire and emergency medical service for high school-aged students who live and attend school in the Sacramento region.
Youth who are interested in a career as a Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, Nurse, Public Safety Dispatcher, Disaster Service Worker and/or an Emergency Management Specialist are strongly encouraged to apply.
This application closes on March 1, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Applicants will be notified via email of next steps in the selection process.
The S@CH program is a six-week summer learning experience that provides 11th and 12th grade high school students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while making a difference in their communities.
Selected participants get a chance to work alongside decision makers who impact their city by working as an intern within a variety of City of Sacramento departments or with a Community Based partner. Students are supported throughout the program by certified teachers that deliver a curriculum focusing on civic engagement and youth development classes at City Hall. Students have the opportunity to meet peers with similar interests and to learn from and network with City Hall Officials.
Participants that complete the 6 week course and internship earn five (5) high school credits and a stipend!
This program culminates with a wonderful graduation ceremony open to all!
